The table series includes the Super-Elliptical™, the Super-Circular™, circular, square and rectangular tables designed by Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson, and Arne Jacobsen. The most prominent member of the series, the Super-Elliptical table, was inspired by the designer Piet Hein’s solution to a traffic problem at Sergels Torg in Stockholm: A super elliptical roundabout. The ingenious shape was conceived in his mathematical mind. 
Fritz Hansen has revitalised the Table Series™, which began with the 1969 Super-Elliptical™ table designed by Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson and Arne Jacobsen, with an enhanced, nanotechnology-based laminate tabletop.
The low-reflective laminate creates a beautiful matte surface that is highly scratch resistant and easy to clean.

Bruno Mathsson - Swedish and internationally recognized designer and architect. He was an advocate of simplicity, beauty and elegance in form, which also applied to the furniture he designed. Mathsson's furniture was innovative in technique as well as design, his production methods included the bending of laminated wood. Although his designs are from the 30s and 40s, his furniture is among the classic furniture of our time. In Denmark he designed the PH Superellipse Table Series in cooperation with Danish designer Piet Hein in 1968.
