Copenhague is a furniture collection designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. Hay invited the Bouroullec brothers to design the furniture for the redesigned University of Copenhagen (KUA). Due to the symmetrical frames the chairs and tables both stack vertically, allowing an almost infinite stacking. The designers wanted to create furniture with greater originality and a more domestic expression than the traditional educational furniture.

The Copenhague collection fits for all kinds of public and private use. Finishes: Clear laquered Oak Veneer, Matt Lacquered oak veneer, Black stained Oak veneer, Oak legs/Grey Linoleum- Oak-Black linoleum, Oak/Green Linoleum, Oak/Off white linoleum, Oak/white laminate.

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, born 1971 and 1976, respectively, in Quimper, France, studied at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Cergy-Pontoise. Ronan began independent design work immediately after completing his studies, while his brother, who was still in school, assisted him. Since 1999 both brothers have worked together as joint partners in their own design firm. Their work ranges from small utilitarian objects to architectural projects. In addition to the design of domestic and office furniture, vases, jewellery and diverse home accessories, a primary focus of their work is the design and organisation of interior space.

HAY was founded in 2002. This marked the beginnings of the international ambition that HAY has pursued over the past decade: creating durable quality furniture at affordable prices to allow as many people as possible to enjoy excellent design. HAY looks back with pride at the age of Danish Modern, where quality, craftsmanship and humanistic design put Denmark on the global map, and they look with excitement to the future as they explore the current possibilities inherent in new technologies, new materials and new ways of living with furniture. At the heart of everything that HAY does is the notion that contemporary design should spring from a good idea, innovative technology and quality materials in combination with joyful, straightforward and uncomplicated aesthetics.
