Award-winning British designer Thomas Heatherwick founded Heatherwick Studio in 1994 with the aim of creating unique design projects. Heatherwick's team of designers, architects and makers work in a combined studio and workshop in central London's King’s Cross. The Heatherwick Studio’s projects range from bridges and buildings to contemporary furniture and large-scale works of public art. His best known work may be the Olympic flame design for the London Summer Olympics 2012. Amongst Heatherwick's most successful 'small-scale' projects is the now iconic Spun Chair for Italian furniture brand Magis design. This rotating lounge chair came out of research into geometric simplification and experimentation into materials and processes.
