Description

The Soft Edge chair from HAY, as its name suggests, features a pleasant, rounded design: the edges of the backrest and seat curve back eliminating any sharp edges and corners. When creating the chair, design studio Iskos-Berlin utilized the latest innovations in moulded plywood that allow new three-dimensional forms and reduced consumption of natural resources. The result is Soft Edge, a lightweight and stackable chair that is well suited for homes and public spaces alike.

In 2021, HAY renewed the surface treatments of its wood furniture by replacing their paints and lacquers with more environmentally friendly, water-based alternatives. Please note that due to this, natural wood furniture now comes with only one lacquer option instead of the previous two: the new water-based lacquer is glossier than the matte lacquer previously used, but slightly more matte than HAY’s previous clear lacquer.

Iskos-Berlin  is a Copenhagen-based design duo that has made International headlines within furniture, industrial and graphic design. The studio, formerly known as Komplot Design has collaborated with some of the World's most prestigious manufacturers and their furniture, lighting and other design products are exhibited at numerous design museums around the World including MoMA and the Danish Design Museum. Iskos-Berlin on their design philosophy - We see design as an art of storytelling. This story is normally quite complex, consisting of semantics, morphology, materiality, technology of objects and many other elements.
