Description
Originally designed in 1958 for the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel Copenhagen, the Egg Chair’s fluid curves offered a sculptural contrast to the building’s straight-edges and vertical lines.
The Egg Chair was crafted using entirely new techniques for the time, with Jacobsen being the first to utilise a strong foam inner shell underneath the chair’s upholstery. Using a unique process, Jacobsen tested and prototyped the shape and form of the Egg Chair using clay in his home studio.
This edition of the Egg Chair is upholstered in Surface selection AURA Leather, a firm yet flexible aniline variety crafted from the finest European rawhide from Alpine cattle, with visible, natural markings that only get better with age. Beautifully soft and smooth, AURA Leather serves as the perfect enhancement to the curves of the iconic Egg Chair and is available in a selection of hues.
