Description

WASSILY KANDINSKY, born in Moscow in 1866, he starts to study law before joining the Fine Arts Academy of Munich in 1896.

His various trips in Europe, especially in Paris between 1906 and 1907 let him discover new paths through the art of Cézanne, Matisse and Picasso. In 1911, he founded Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) with Franz Marc and German expressionists. He publishes, The Spiritual in Art, his first theories on abstract paintings which allows him to become famous and to spread his ideas. His influence will keep growing when he becomes teacher at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1922. His painting is at that moment geometrical and full of colour.
